ANCIENT HISTORY OF UKRAINE

V thousand BC — IX century.

The ancient history of Ukraine covers the period that began with the disappearance of the Neanderthals and lasted until the appearance of the historical Slavs.

The Bronze Age lasted on the lands of Ukraine for more than two thousand years, from the second half of the 4th to the end of the 2nd millennium BC. In the steppes, the cultures of peoples who led a semi-sedentary, and sometimes nomadic way of life, using a new invention of that time, four-wheeled carts, replaced each other. At that time, tens of thousands of barrows — «graves» — were filled in the Ukrainian steppes, under which the ancient owners of these lands rest. It is in those times and in these places that researchers are looking for the origins (and speakers) of modern Indo-European languages, which are now spoken by most of the peoples of Europe and a large part of the peoples of the world.

Agricultural crops began to develop in the forest-steppe and forests. Tripoli proto-cities were replaced by small settlements of half-dungeons and dugouts. Their inhabitants grew bread and grazed cattle in the same way as millennia before.
